Today's story contains a conversation between Laguz the Sailor and Othala the Historian.

Laguz is a rune of deep emotions, being carried along by the tide, and, you know, water.
Othala is the rune of ancestral home, and she is a bit torn up about its loss.#futharkvillage pic.twitter.com/e3KidLgEOF
Eiwaz lowered his bow. He had been using it to prevent the warriors who had attacked his village from reaching their ship, but he had only succeeded in delaying them. Now they were sailing away to the north, with the unconscious Sowilo aboard.#futharkvillage @MightySigurd

But then, from the southern end of the river, a longship came into view. Its blue and white sails revealed it to be The Tyr, one of the three ships which had brought them here, to the place where they had built Futhark Village.#futharkvillage @SRCExplores @rhipossessed

Laguz slowed The Tyr, and Isa the Slow jumped down to stop the longship and hold it in place while the others boarded. Once everyone was aboard, they sailed as fast as they could after the other ship. #futharkvillage @MarieHa44988077 @ILupine

Eiwaz went to the front of the ship, where he found Kenaz affixing lanterns. The sun was fully set now. He nocked an arrow, but, while the lanterns added to the light of the half moon overhead, the other ship was invisible to their eyes.#futharkvillage @Hyrrokkin89 @Apez140

"Ow!" Thurisaz heard a woman's voice cry out, and he picked up his boot. He had stepped on Othala the Historian in the darkness at the back of the ship.

"Watch where you're going, young man. I know you've lost your sister, but pay attention."#futharkvillage @WolfofOdin420
"Now where was I?" Othala asked Laguz, picking up their conversation from before the others had joined them on the ship.

"You had just recounted the deeds of my grandfather, Onund Treefoot, who had terrorized the coasts of Scotland."#futharkvillage @blithgunde
"Yes, yes," Othala droned. "And then your mother, Gudbiorg, married a retired viking. They moved to the original Futhark Village, and made a nice home for themselves. Which was destroyed by the endless winters and wars that followed."#futharkvillage

"This new village has plenty of water, bordered by the deepest part of the river on two sides," Laguz said. "We were lucky to find such a fertile patch of land."

Othala scowled. "And now we are about to lose this home as well, to these Frigg-forsaken bandits."#futharkvillage
"They are better armed than mere bandits," Thurisaz interjected. "They wear mail armor and carry sharp, well-made swords."
— Perseus Greenman (@futharkvillage) November 6, 2019
Othala glared at him. "So you think we have tried to build our village in the estate of a rich and powerful jarl?"#futharkvillage
"No," Laguz said. "The waste coming downriver from such an estate so close… would be profound. If they are a part of a jarl's court, that jarl is far upstream. Possibly as far as those mountains in the distance." Othala seemed placated.#futharkvillage

"Do you think–" Othala began to say, before she was cut off by an exclamation from Eiwaz at the front of the ship.

"There they are!"#futharkvillage
"What are they doing?" Laguz asked, nearly shouting. "They're sailing right into that waterfall. Could there be a hideout behind it?"
— Perseus Greenman (@futharkvillage) November 6, 2019
But there was no hideout. The attackers' ship simply sailed straight up the waterfall. #futharkvillage
"Isa! Drop the anchor! Raidho, take the rudder!" Laguz's voice rolled over The Tyr like a tidal wave. He floated around giving orders and adjusting the sails. "We need to stop before we get to that waterfall. THIS ship WON'T survive sailing straight up."#futharkvillage
