Laguz sailed the longship Tyr up the river toward the city he could see in the distance. The river had twisted and turned so much since they had last seen the sun that he no longer had any concept of North, South East or West. It was only upstream and down.#futharkvillage

The river was flowing quickly and straight away from that city, and Laguz had a good view of it. The walls were illuminated by what appeared to be pieces of metal which had been heated to the point of glowing. The heat likely came from lava.#futharkvillage

They sailed into the city's dock and strode down the pier. At the end of the pier were three people, and even from the ship, it was clear that those people were misshapen. One had a large hump on their back, and another had a head which listed to one side.#futharkvillage

The third misshapen form stepped forward, her bulbous nose distracting from warts the size of normal noses all over her face. "Why have you come here?" She directed her question to Raidho, who was moving the most quickly and was in front.#futharkvillage

"We traveled here because–" Raidho began.

"Our village was attacked." General Algiz interrupted Raidho. "King Nordri of Nidhavelir has created some sort of war game for the sons of Thor, and we are caught in the crossfire."#futharkvillage
The three monsters appeared taken aback by the outsiders' accusation. "Perhaps we got off on the wrong foot. Let us start again. Hello. I am Fundis Nordrisdottir." The left side of her head was so much larger than the right that it looked like it would fall over.#futharkvillage

"My tall brother," Fundis said, gesturing to the hunch-backed one, "is Altholf. And my olfactorily gifted sister is Althunn. Now, tell me, why do you come here when the contest is between the sons of Thor? Surely you should be approaching them?"#futharkvillage

"We travelled here–" Raidho began again.

"Emissaries from our village," King Mannaz interrupted, "have been dispatched to the fortresses belonging to each of Thor's sons. The largest delegation came here, to talk to the representatives of Nidhavelir."#futharkvillage
"We would also like to trade with Nidhavelir," Gebo interjected. "This isn't just about the attack: since we built our new village, we have not had contact with another settlement. We have goods from before, and have already begun making new goods as well."#futharkvillage

"Come," Fundis said. "Let us feast together. We shall invite our father to join us, and we can discuss all of these things."

"The war between Magni and Modi has not been pleasant for us dwarves, caught in the middle," Althunn said.#futharkvillage
"I'm sure father will be happy to discuss the trade arrangements as well," Althjolf added, nodding to Gebo.

Then the three dwarves turned toward the gate, and led the villagers through to the Royal Palace in Nidhavelir. #futharkvillage
